Fees, health funds and payment

We give you a written estimate before treatment starts, so you know the costs before you decide.

  • Interest-free payment plans are available for orthodontic treatment.
  • Health funds: if you have extras cover, you may be able to claim part of the cost. Claim on the spot with HICAPS.
  • Consultation fees: ask us about consultation fees.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

Not for Orthodontics: you can book directly. If your dentist has referred you, bring the referral or ask them to send it to The OSO. Oral Surgery appointments are usually made by referral from your dentist or doctor.

How old should my child be for their first orthodontic check?

The Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends a check at around age 7–8. Many children won't need treatment yet. We'll monitor their growth and advise on the right time.

How much do braces cost?

It depends on what's needed and how long treatment takes. We'll give you a written estimate at your consultation, and payment plans are available.

How long does treatment take?

It varies from person to person. Many courses of orthodontic treatment take between 12 months and 2–3 years. We'll give you an estimate for your case.

Am I too old for orthodontics?

Adults can have orthodontic treatment at any age, provided the teeth and gums are healthy.

Can I be asleep for wisdom teeth removal?

Yes, where it suits your case. We offer treatment in the dental chair under local anaesthetic, or under general anaesthetic at the day surgery next door.

Is treatment safe?

All treatment has some risks. We explain the risks that apply to you at your consultation, before you decide.
