Adult orthodontics in Wagga Wagga
Adults can have orthodontic treatment at any age, provided the teeth and gums are healthy.
Many adults choose orthodontic treatment, whether they missed out as a teenager, their teeth have moved over time, or their dentist has suggested it before other dental work. Adults can have orthodontic treatment at any age, provided the teeth and gums are healthy.
Options for adults
- Invisalign® and clear aligners: removable and discreet, for suitable cases.
- Clear (ceramic) braces: fixed braces that are less noticeable than metal.
- Metal braces: a reliable, well-proven option.
Orthodontics before other dental work
Sometimes moving teeth first makes other treatment, such as crowns or bridges, easier for your dentist. We work closely with your dentist and keep them updated.
Combined orthodontic and jaw surgery treatment
Some bite problems are caused by the position of the jaws rather than the teeth alone. These cases may need orthodontics together with jaw surgery. Because The OSO has orthodontists and an Oral Surgery team in one practice, combined cases can be planned together in the same practice. Dr Ruth Fairhurst has a particular interest in these complex cases and in patients with missing teeth (hypodontia).
What adults should know
Adult teeth can take a little longer to move, and healthy gums are important before and during treatment. As with any treatment there are risks, which we'll explain at your consultation, along with the likely timeframe and costs in writing.
