Metal and clear braces in Wagga Wagga

Reliable, well-proven fixed braces for all ages, in metal or tooth-coloured ceramic.

Metal braces: reliable, well-proven treatment for all ages

Metal brackets and wires are what most people picture when they hear the word "braces". Modern brackets are smaller and less noticeable than the braces many adults remember, and metal braces are strong enough for most types of treatment.

  • Smaller size. Today's brackets are less bulky than older styles, so they are less obvious.
  • Modern brackets. Today's brackets are smaller and bond well to the teeth.
  • Comfort. Newer shapes are designed to sit more comfortably against the lips and cheeks.

Clear braces: less noticeable, same principle as metal braces

Clear braces use small translucent ceramic brackets that blend in with the natural tooth colour and resist staining during treatment. They work in the same way as metal braces. Your orthodontist will advise whether they suit your case.

  • Small and strong. 3M Clarity ceramic brackets are made with the latest technology, so their small size doesn't reduce their strength.
  • Comfort. Smooth, rounded corners mean the brackets come into contact with your cheeks and lips less.

Things to consider

Clear braces can cost more than metal braces, and the ceramic brackets can be a little larger. We'll talk through the pros and cons with you.

Clear braces or clear aligners?

Clear braces are fixed to the teeth, like metal braces. Clear aligners such as Invisalign® are removable plastic trays that fit over the teeth like a thin mouthguard. Each has advantages, and not every case suits aligners. Read about clear aligners.

Why orthodontic treatment?

Well-aligned teeth can be easier to clean, and orthodontic treatment can improve how your teeth bite together. Your orthodontist will explain what treatment can and can't achieve in your case.

After braces come off, retainers help keep teeth in their new position. We explain retainer care at the end of treatment.
